Worship Service Start Time

President Brabec opened the floor for discussion of first service start time (8:30 vs. 8:15).

Education Chair Tami Lueck explained that Sunday School begins at 9:30 and the current schedule makes it difficult to accomplish their teachings as desired. She explained this is why her committee, along with Worship and Music, brought the request to council to change the service start time to 8:15.

Conversation Included: Concern was voiced regarding potential added inconvenience for the elderly. It was also indicated that if inconvenient, there is a second service at 10:30.

It was asked whether the 8:15 start time is a "Given" or will there be a vote to make a final determination.

A trend of Sunday School attendance for the past 5 years was requested. President Dave indicated that the request would be placed on hold for now and the council would conduct a review of the statistics. Based upon experience, concerns were expressed indicating support of the 8:15 start time. It was also stated that this is not a new discussion and that ministry to our children is very important.

Finally, it was asked if we could vote on the service start time at this meeting. President Dave indicated that we could not as it was not on the agenda as an item to be voted upon.

President Dave indicated that the issue will be on the agenda and a vote will be conducted at the January 28, 2007 meeting.

After prayer, the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully Submitted,

Denny Holmen, Secretary
