MINUTES: CONGREGATIONAL MEETING
JULY 20, 2008
TO EXTEND A CALL FOR AN ASSOCIATE PASTOR

 1. Call To Order: President Darrell Paske.

  2. Opening Prayer:
Pastor Gunderman.

  3. Introduction of Candidate:
The Call Committee Chair, Matt Karlgaard, introduced Bruce Hannem, who spoke to the congregation about his educational background, work history, family, etc. Matt then introduced Bruce’s wife Cindy, who was also in attendance.

  4. Call Committee Presentation:
Colleen Both explained the Call Committee process, which included a sermon given by Bruce to the Committee. Committee members spoke of their        personal reasons for recommending Bruce as their candidate of choice. Members speaking included Ellie Whiteman, Jon Aga, Peggy Carlson, Matt Karlgaard, Cathy Taylor and Brent Campbell. Colleen Both summarized the many reasons Bruce was the Committee choice.

  5. Q & A:
There was opportunity for the congregation to ask questions, to which the Call Committee responded.

  6. Vote the Question:
The question whether to call Bruce Hannem as Associate Pastor was voted via written ballot. The results were 199 in favor and one opposed.

  7. Financial Package Presentation:
The following financial package was proposed by President Darrell Paske:

The proposed salary is based upon Synod guidelines, which are based on years of ministry. This is Bruce Hannem’s first call. Our previous pastor, at the time he left, had served here for eight years.

Questions were taken from the congregation and addressed by the Council President.

  8. Vote the Question:
The motion to accept the financial package, as presented, was made by Lois Jensen and seconded by Cheryl Peterson. By a show of hands, the motion passed unanimously.

10. Adjournment:
A motion to adjourn was made by John Windh and seconded by Jon Aga. The meeting was adjourned.
