SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING - JUNE 30, 2008

Present (Council): Darrell Paske (president), Pastor Joan, Carol Smith, Dean Maier,
       Donna Trapp, Colleen Both, Tim Bergin, Sharon Ingvoldstad and Denny Holmen.
Absent (Council): Tom Larson and Tami Lueck.
Present (Call Committee): Matt Karlgaard (chair), Cathy Taylor and Colleen Both.

II. Associate Pastor recommendation from Call Committee
  1. Presentation
Matt Karlgaard (chair) thoroughly explained the Call Committee process and how the Committee arrived at their candidate of choice. He also presented the credentials of their candidate of choice. The Committee has worked extremely hard through this process. Cathy Taylor and Colleen Both, members of the Call Committee, offered their comments. All three answered questions from Council members.
  1. Council actions
The Call Committee formally recommended Bruce Hannem of Sacramento, California, to the Council. Council voted unanimously to accept the Call Committee’s recommendation and to recommend Bruce Hannem to the Congregation for Call as Associate Pastor. Bruce is not yet ordained but will be, in August, before he arrives. This is his first call. The call is to be extended  pending a complete background check, provided through the Synod Office. III. Salary and benefits package
Subsequent to the Call Committee presentation and a discussion, Council approved a compensation package in keeping with Synod guidelines. This is a total package including base salary, housing allowance, medical coverage, pension contribution, and employer portion of the Social Security contribution. M/S/P (Ingvoldstad/Holmen).

IV. Congregational Call meeting
  1. President Paske will send a letter to all members announcing a Congregational meeting to be held Sunday July 20th at 10:15 a.m. Members will also be encouraged to attend a potluck Saturday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. to meet and greet Bruce Hannem.
  2. Matt Karlgaard will announce the Call Committee and Council recommendations to the congregation at worship services on July 6th.
