New Business

Peggy Carlson presented proposed LCC policies for Use of Church Facilities and accompanying church, audio and video use forms and fee schedules. Laurie Winters provided additional comments. Peggy reported that they talked to a number of churches for input regarding those churches’ policies and fee schedules and that these proposed policies and fees had been discussed with our Property Chair prior to the council meeting. Property Chair’s comments from that meeting had been incorporated into the materials before the Council meeting. After discussion, council requested that a $50 fee for use of sanctuary equipment systems and a $10 fee for Chapel Hall projection screen equipment be added to the fee schedule. Motions:
  • Approved policies for Use of Church Facilities. M/S/P (Ingvoldstad/Both).
  • Approved Church Use form and Fee Schedule with the addition of a $50 fee for use of  sanctuary equipment systems and a $10 fee for Chapel Hall projection equipment. M/S/P (Lueck/Bergin).
  • Approved effective date of April 1, 2008, for implementation of policies for Use of Church Facilities and Church Use form and Fee Schedules. M/S/P (Maier/Bergin).
Council expressed a SPECIAL THANK YOU to Peggy Carlson and Laurie Winters for all of   their hard work on this project.

   3. Outreach
  • IHN - Here the week of March 9-16. Three families, eight people. Going well. Sandy Simonson has been in charge as I was out of town for a funeral. Doing a fantastic job! My heartfelt thanks to her. Next week of hosting is June 29-July 6 (over July 4th).
  • Food Shelf - March is Food Shelf month. Presented 2007 unaudited food shelf numbers.
  • Name Badges - Placed second order for name tags. Picking up on March 14th. Dean Maier purchased white boards which will hang outside the sanctuary. People can place name badges on them so they don’t have to bring them from home. Responses to badges have been good. A special thanks to Dean for getting the boards.
   4. Education
  • Palm Sunday Services - Children will participate.
  • Sunday School - Attendance a bit lower since the first of the year. Similar to past years.
  • Spring Dinner - To be held for members of the congregation. Proceeds will go to the Uganda Well Fund.
  • VBS - Currently planning Vacation Bible School.
   5. Youth
  • Easter Breakfast - 7:45 - 11:00 a.m. Freewill offering. Big fund raiser for the youth to be used for upcoming Mission trip. Thrivent should provide matching funds.
  • Synod Training - Dean attended training for youth and family. Excellent. Great ideas for generating ways to get youth involved and keep them involved. Will coordinate with Stacey and Rachel.
  • Confirmation - April 27th for 25 confirmands.
  • Additional Activities - There are a number of activities coming up for confirmation students over the next six weeks.
   6. Personnel Committee
  • Volunteer Coordinator Position - Interviewed Arlene Rice for the position. The Personnel Committee highly recommends her for the position. Start date would be March 25, 2008. M/S/P (Trapp/Ingvoldstad) to accept Personnel Committee recommendation to hire Arlene Rice to start March 25, 2008. M/S/P (Both/Larson) to set work time at 10 - 12 hours per week.
   7. Congregational Life
  • Lenten Suppers - Going well with the help of over 20 adults and many confirmation youth and their leaders. We have fed around 100 people each week. We will meet next Thursday morning to talk about how it went week by week. I didn’t find an over-all chair for the suppers but had many people volunteer to help. I organized those people into committees for each supper. It seems to have worked all right.
  • Fifty Plus - Have not found new leaders, but has been meeting each month with Tom and Marlene Larson pulling it together.
  • WELCA - Carolyn Blanck has been working with others to revitalize WELCA. The rummage sale is beginning to pull in volunteers. Need many more by the end of April.
  • Blood Drive - To be held September 3rd and 4th. Coordinators are yet to be determined.
  • Strategic Planning - Presented recommended goal priority #1. To be discussed at the April council meeting.

Old Business

Tabled discussion of Strategic Planning Goals until next meeting.
