Reports
Starting next month, reports to the council will be submitted quarterly rather than monthly. The updated website will make information from the departments available on a more timely basis.
   Associate Pastor, Pastor Bruce
  • Through January 10, visitation included seven visits to homes or nursing facilities, two office visits and six hospital visits. Our Eucharistic ministry team completed four visits.
  • We now have a firm schedule of Sunday forums through May 6, with both "inside" and "outside" presenters.
  • Five new families joined LCC at the second service on Sunday January 15. We have two more families who are interested in joining.
  • Christmas Eve services were an overwhelming success with 1,008 in attendance, 547 at the first service. In 2010 we had 954 in attendance, 874 in 2009 and 991 in 2008.
  • Action item - housing allowance request is attached. Approved annual housing allowance adjustment (M/S/A - Green, Stark).
   Property, Marvin Green
  • Repainting basement, trim. Kids will be doing murals in their classroom. Ceiling leak in narthex repaired.
    Worship and Music, Jenny Stubbs
  • We would like to continue and build on the tradition of the Fifth Sundays being special at LCC. We've been referring to these as "Food, Fun and Fellowship on the Fifth." This month, Jan. 29th, we will feature Gospel style hymns and special music, followed by a potluck meal. We realize that it might start small, but hopefully it will build! We'd like to ask Congregational Life if they have interest in this model - we'd need their help with the "food" aspect in the future.
  • Lenten services will start on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 22. These will take place at 7 pm in place of the 6:18 worship service, with a new liturgy by Marty Haugen. Parts of this liturgy will be introduced in our regular services by our organists. A light meal will be served beforehand.
  • Members of the committee will present forums on Feb. 19th (Cathy Taylor and Laura Raedeke) and Feb. 26th (Jerry Raedeke). These should be fun and informative!
  • LCC is one of five cosponsors of Liturgy Day, Feb. 18, led by Marty Haugen and Fr. Michael Joncas. With strong encouragement by Pastor Glenn, we have agreed to help support the event financially with a fee of $500. This was a wonderful workshop last year and a number of our committee members will be attending the workshop on the 18th, as well as worship planners from all over our synod. There is a concert the evening of the 17th, open to the public.
   Outreach, Ron Thorson
  • Food shelf is currently serving 331 families, up from 286 in December. Nine guests for IHN.
   Children and Family, Nikki Stark
  • We had our Epiphany Party on Sunday, January 8th. There were games for the kids to play celebrating the New Year and their great relationships with God, their teachers, and their friends.
  • Children's Ministry is in the process of implementing the Safe Church program. We watched a video about how to keep children safe at church and are filling out paperwork in order to work with the Sunday School kids.
  • We are starting to gear up for VBS 2012. The theme for the "big" kids will be Babylon, and the theme for the "little" kids will by Sky. They both look like a lot of fun with a great message of God's love for them all.
   Youth, Pam Sandelin, no report

   Congregational Life, Jean Kraft
  • Lenten supper coming up.
   Personnel, Jim Kraft, no report

Closing Prayer
