Our congregation has voted to call Bruce Hannem of Sacramento, California, to be our Associate Pastor. Mr. Hannem will soon be ordained in California, after which he will join our staff, probably in September. Click here for two photos.

Volunteer opportunities:
- We need a Coordinator of Volunteer Activities to begin March 1st. This is a paid position for approximately 10-12 hours a week. Job description and application are on the desk in the church office. Deadline for application is March 1.
- For our Lenten suppers, we need bread and bars each Wednesday. We also need clean up help. Sign-up sheets are on the desk in the narthex.
- We need volunteers for March 9 - 16 when we again host families through the Interfaith Hospitality Network. Starting in June of 2007, and several times since, we have hosted guests through the Interfaith Hospitality Network. Our coordinators in this enterprise have included Keith Both (transportation), Ron and Sandy Thorson (evening meal), JoAnne Dayton (breakfast), Kate Carlson (activities), Dick Peterson (overnight hosts), Deb Roberts (evening hosts) and Christa and Harold Krause (set-up and take-down).

On Sunday mornings, we now use the new Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELW) as our hymnbook and service book.

Kinship Partners is a program that enables individuals, coouples and even families to mentor a child. Though it has been active in the Brainerd Lakes area since 1986, presently there are about 60 children between ages 5 and 15 who are waiting for an adult mentor. If you can spare a couple hours a week for this rewarding activity, please call 829-4606 iin Brainerd (568-4015 in Pequot Lakes) and join a discussion in Chapel Hall at 9:30 on Sunday morning, February 12th.
Likewise, if you would like to provide occasional relief to an over-taxed care giver, call the Lutheran Social Services respite service center in Crosslake at 218/692-1964.
