Small Groups
Are you surrounded by people yet still feel lonely? Have you had a desire to get to know some of the people in our church family a little better? Do you wish you had more time to explore faith issues?

A special ministry is starting at LCC called "Small Group Ministry." It is designed to bring people from our congregation together to have fun, to enjoy each other's company, and to grow in their faith.

Goals:
  • To foster a "friendly small church" feeling in a large church.
  • To offer another way to be fed spiritually outside of a
weekly worship experience on Saturday or Sunday.
  • To provide a place where members can study topics and
have in depth discussions about faith matters.
  • Small Groups are gatherings of 8-12 people who meet in homes monthly or every other month. A group may fellowship around food such as a potluck meal, appetizers, or a dessert. After this time of socializing and eating there is always a discussion of some subject related to faith and a time for prayer.

Our goal at LCC is to have 10 to 20 groups formed in 2010. There are two groups presently in existence. One was started for "40 Days of Purpose" and is still going strong. The other was started over twenty years ago and continues to be an ongoing vibrant group. If you are interested in becoming a member of a small group or simply have more questions contact one of the Small Group Task Force members: Colleen Both (963-4903), Erin Karlgaard (218-838-9340), Dick Peterson (963-4859) or Carol Smith (829-8142).

We now post every week's worship bulletins on our website. You can click here to see Sunday's and here for Saturday's. Better yet, click here to see the latest monthly newsletter!! You may need the free Adobe Flash Player to read the bulletin and newsletter. You can download it here.

Fourth, fifth and sixth graders are invited to join a new Youth Choir led by Jennie Pelowski. We will rehearse wonderful choral music from 7:00 to 7:30 each Wednesday evening and the enjoy games and snacks from 7:30 to 8:00. Call Jennie at 829-7717 for more information.

Since June of 2007 we have regularly hosted guests through the Interfaith Hospitality Network. Our coordinators in this enterprise have included Keith Both (transportation), Ron and Sandy Thorson (evening meal), JoAnne Dayton (breakfast), Kate Carlson (activities), Dick Peterson (overnight hosts), Deb Roberts (evening hosts) and Christa and Harold Krause (set-up and take-down). We need as many as 70 volunteers so please call the church office to help.

Any Tuesday from 10 until 2, you may visit our Computer Resource Center at the east end of our Sunday School corridor, classroom #5. Contact Lyle Amundson with your ideas for making this facility truly useful to the LCC church family.

Kinship Partners is a program that enables individuals, coouples and even families to mentor a child. Though it has been active in the Brainerd Lakes area since 1986, presently there are about 60 children between ages 5 and 15 who are waiting for an adult mentor. If you can spare a couple hours a week for this rewarding activity, please call 829-4606 iin Brainerd (568-4015 in Pequot Lakes) and join a discussion in Chapel Hall at 9:30 on Sunday morning, February 12th.

Likewise, if you would like to provide occasional relief to an over-taxed care giver, call the Lutheran Social Services respite service center in Crosslake at 218/692-1964.
