OUTREACH 

The Outreach committee, chaired by Colleen Both (963-4903), seeks to channel our members' energies and resources toward serving the larger community beyond the membership of Lutheran Church of the Cross. It invites people to support these ministries:

• Our Outreach committee invites you to continue to give money toward our Katrina relief project. We have committed to supporting several Gulf Coast Synod congregations who still serve hundreds of meals each day and distribute $100,000 worth of donated food per week. They badly need our help. Every gift of $40 will purchase a food box which will feed a family of four for 3-4 days. If we send the money, Ted and Donie Greer, LCC members who winter in Gulf Shores, will assist with actually purchasing and distributing the food in Alabama. Please place your gifts in a Sunday offering plate or drop them off in the church office.

• We are a part of the Sharing Bread Soup Kitchen in Brainerd, where about 40 meals are served every evening at Temple Baptist Church. Different groups from our congregation -- including youth and the church council -- serve the meal the first Thursday of every month from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Please call Ann Bergin (963-7303), who coordinates our part of this important program, to offer your help.

• We are affiliated with the Lakes Area Food Shelf located south of Pequot Lakes. We contribute food and cash, with Mary Lienke (568-4496) serving as our board representative. A member of Lutheran Church of the Cross, Donna Niggeler (746-3935), is the manager of the Food Shelf.

• We support the Lakes Area Habitat For Humanity. Pastor Chris (963-2564) is our liason in this endeavor. Click here to go to the national Habitat for Humanity website.
