JANUARY 2008 WELCA NEWS
Following the Beatitudes Bible Study led by Pastor Joan, the Women of the ELCA at LCC met at 12 noon on January 2, 2008, for subs and a strategic planning session.
Our purposes:
- Define WELCA and where we are here at LCC as a congregational unit of Women of the ELCA.
- Connect in purpose to conference, synod and church-wide Women of the ELCA.
- Define ways we can better reach out in God's love to one another here at LCC, our community and the world through study (spiritual nurturing), support (building relationships) and action (serving others).
Planning women's events for 2008:
We shared a number of ideas such as a home-based business fair and a presentation on women's health issues. We decided to attempt to have quarterly events for women at LCC. These events will be of interest to a broad spectrum of women at our church, and they will be opportunities to share a sense of fellowship and sisterhood.
Next meeting:
Please mark your calendars for the next monthly W-ELCA information/planning meeting on Wednesday, February 6, at 12 noon. Subs will be provided. All women at LCC are invited. Prior to the meeting we will contact all current board members, officers and project chairs to see if they wish to continue in their position. We will also contact all from LCC who attended the fall gathering and others who have indicated interest. These are wonderful opportunities to meet our "sisters" at LCC and to join with 500,000 other women of the ELCA churchwide who are mutually supporting one another.
