Lutheran Church of the Cross' confirmation program is intended to give middle school aged students a basic understanding of Christianity through fellowship, small group learning, and service in the community. Church of the Cross uses the "Faith Inkubator" curriculum developed by Pastor Rich Melheim in Stillwater, Minnesota. The Faith Inkubator approach to teaching is relational in scope--it seeks to bring small groups of students together with adults who are mature in their faith--so that while learning the basic tenets of the faith students may also develop healthy relationships with other Christians. Church of the Cross encourages community service among its confirmation groups because, as Pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer noted, we "cannot know the reality of God without the reality of the world; nor can we know the reality of the world without the reality of God." Our goal for every student at Lutheran Church of the Cross is that both realities be well known.
