Lutheran Church of the Cross, Nisswa, is eager to announce that they have extended a call to Rev. Drew Bakken to be their next Senior Pastor.
Originally from Stillwater, MN with a stop-over in Austin, TX, Pastor Bakken received his undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire in 1997. Following that he attended Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN, where he received his Masters of Divinity in 2002.
Pastor Bakken was ordained in the Northern Illinois Synod and served his first congregation in Rockford, IL. He has also served at All Saints Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America, MN, and most recently at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN. At Mount Olivet, Pastor Bakken served as the Lead Pastor of the church’s West Campus in Victoria, MN.
Pastor Bakken is married to Colleen, and they have 3 children: Nathan, Abigail, and Rebecca. They are thrilled to be moving to Nisswa and becoming a part of the community at Lutheran Church of the Cross. Says Pastor Bakken, “I just can’t wait to get started at LCC! The worship is filled with musical excellence which helps to inspire us in our daily living. And the people...the people that I have met are incredibly warm and hospitable. They are ready and willing to do outreach work in the community, which I find to be a key component to living out our Christian faith. I’m ready to get going on this incredible journey that is before us!”
